  Women Trends:

There’s no point in keeping up with the fashion trends of fall 2008 and winter 2009 unless you have the one other major element just right: HAIR.

The next wave of hair trends will play to the extremes.  Fashion forward girls have a huge choice to make; either keep the bob and blend into the crowd or, to stand out, cut their hair shorter or let it grow.  They might be extremely short, extremely girly, extremely sexual or extremely slick.
Girls who cut the bob in 2008 and want a fashion forward look are going to have to either let their hair grow out or go for something more extreme.  Enter the cropped bob and the pixie crop.  The cropped bob is very extreme.  It’s not quite a pixie crop or a bob.  Short all over, even with a heavily shortened blunt cut fringe, it can only be worn by those who ooze confidence.  For those fashionisers who are willing to really take scissors to their hair, the pixie crop offers a bold look far less subtle than the cropped bob, and one that is both young and funky when done right.

You got short trends in the form of the pixie crop and the cropped bob, which simply are not going to suit everyone; but long hair layered correctly leaves you able to take advantage of most of the upcoming hair trends.   Just a few of the long hair looks are flowing, straight and sleek and 1940 Mermaid Waves with side-part.

“Big” hair is making a comeback as well.  You won’t see the excessive volume that was popular in the 1980’s, but a trendy compromise is a wavy, tousled look that is easy to achieve with hot rollers or a 1 ½ wide barreled curling iron.  For sex-appeal you can give your roots a boost by applying a root lifter and blow-drying your hair while holding it upwards, focusing on the roots only.   Whatever style you choose volume is essential.  Add a bit of oomph to a long hairstyle by wearing it in a heavily voluminous fashion.

For the next hairstyle trends Milkmaid braids are our first tip for women as socialites and celebrities are increasingly seen with them off and on the red carpet.  You can either put your braids up in a bun, leave them down, but the most important factor is to not plaster all of your hair back in the braid.  Let some pieces fall out in the front to frame your face and keep the style a little messy so that it doesn’t look too stuffy and square.

There are many different styles that are classic as well.  These styles will often be seen with a new, exciting cut or color.  So, if you are worried about falling into a trend that will not last, don’t worry.  You can always change it up for the upcoming months.

Men Trends:

It’s easy for men to get locked into a standard hairstyle that they think works.  Maintaining an updated hairstyle is an important component for sustaining a fresh appearance.  Guys with a modern, sophisticated haircut display an acute sense of style.  Like women the trends for men involve shapes that are either long or short, and they all have certain degrees of natural parts.  Basically, the hair is parted wherever the hair most naturally splits, whether it’s in the middle of the head or on the side; nothing is forced, and then product is put in the hair to emphasize the look.  So, for the men anything goes this season, close crops, sexy bangs and a rock and roll vibe.  Take inspiration from past times for a retro look, or speed up your style with a contemporary cut to make an impression!

A metroplex wide casting call was announced in January of 2008 for two lucky winners to receive a total body makeover by Innovations MedSpa.  Kevin Charles was asked to participate in their quest to show Dallas/Ft Worth just what new aesthetic technologies can do for them.  Over 500 people submitted 500 word essays and pictures in hopes of making it to the finals.  Ten contestants were chosen based on their essays, pictures, and informal interview.  At the end two winners were announced live on Good Morning Texas, and returned on Good Morning Texas with the “New Beginnings Makeover Team.” .

The makeover team consisted of a full body sculpting and facial resurfacing work done by Dr. Bill Johnson, full dental Makeover by Dr. Sara Tevis, clothes by Abi Ferrin, makeup by Kelly Shire, spray tan by Jimmy Jimmy Coco, etiquette coaching by Guilaume Coutheillas, and pulling it all together Kevin transformed their hair, and instructed them on maintenance using an assortment of products from his personal line, as well as Kerastase and Bumble & bumble.

  Bain Gommage (dry hair)
PROBLEM 1:  DANDRUFF
SOLUTION 1:  Purifying Technology for Dandruff

Due to an overabundance of microorganism on the scalp, cell cycle is accelerated releasing cell clusters commonly known as dandruff.  Bain Gommage or Peeling Purifiant is applied to the scalp allowing it to immediately recover its natural balance.

Bain Divalent (oily scalp)
PROBLEM 2:  OILY SCALP
SOLUTION 2:  Balancing Technology for Oily Scalps/ Dry Ends

Normal scalps become oily when hormonal changes causes sebum to overflow onto the scalp and hair, weighing it down.  Bain Divelent or Masquargil is applied, purifying, refreshing and ridding the scalp of excess sebum.

Bain Densitive GL (thinning hair)
PROBLEM 3:  THINNING HAIR
SOLUTION 3:  Anti- Thinning Technology for Fragile Hair

Internal factors cause hair to become finer and lose density.  Bain Densitive GL and Lotion Densitive GL utilizes vitamin PP, GL, Cooling Agents and Hairgrip Star Complex to revitalize the scalp, adding body and texture to thinning hair.
